From concerts, assemblies and plays to breakfast, lunch and EVERYTHING in between - an elementary school cafeteria is guaranteed to be one of the busiest parts of the building. Jefferson Avenue’s cafetorium serves as a home base for all of the building’s big events, but there’s a catch: in order to best serve our students’ needs, the space is in need of a lot of upgrades, including air conditioning, new ceilings, flooring and lighting. The Jefferson Avenue kitchen is one of the smallest Food Services spaces in the entire District. The team of employees supporting our students’ healthy eating habits works shoulder to shoulder in an antiquated setup with inefficient equipment. While the smiles, snacks and celebrations go on without a hitch now, our students and our staff need upgraded equipment and fixtures.
