Memories of Minerva DeLand School

In February 2023, the Fairport Board of Education unanimously voted to approve a resolution that authorizes and directs the consolidation of Minerva DeLand into Fairport High School, beginning in the 2026-2027 school year.

The purposes of the 2026-2027 consolidation are as follows:

  • To improve access to academic programming and accelerated programming electives and alternative education programming for ninth grade students previously housed in the Minerva DeLand Building.
  • To continue to appropriately staff the District to meet the academic and social emotional needs of the students and better align 9-12 curriculum and programming
  • To fully utilize the updated high school facility, including the new state of the art STEAM/Innovation Center, gymnasium, library, cafeteria and art rooms.
  • To maximize the use of other District properties to include repurposing Minerva DeLand and the future sale or lease of Baumer Place.

Minerva DeLand School has a fond history, countless memories and a distinct identity, and the Fairport Central School District wants to celebrate it! As a way to bring closure to the Minerva DeLand story, we invite you to share your favorite memories with the District.
