“Once a Robot, Always a Robot”: Regional Victory for Team 578

In a remarkable display of resilience and teamwork, Fairport Raider Robotics Team 578 emerged victorious at the Finger Lakes Regional Championship of the FIRST Robotics league. The competition at the Rochester Institute of Technology featured teams from across the United States and Canada and included several teams based in China.

Despite a challenging start to the competition, the team showcased exceptional composure and strategic execution to secure a well-deserved win and earning eligibility for the World Championships in Houston, Texas!

Head Coach and FHS Technology teacher Marie Kraus said the team was, “calm and confident in our robot and its abilities. [The team] executed our plan and strategy, and teams were taking notice.”

“Even though we ended qualifications ranked 42nd out of 54 teams, the top ranked alliance captain and their first pick dug deeper in the robot statistics and saw that even though our record was 2-7, our power ranking was 18th and our robot and drive team complimented their teams making us their first choice to complete the alliance.”

Congratulations to our Raider Robotics Team 578 on their championship victory!
