Culturally Responsive Practices

Adopted by the Board of Education in Spring 2018, the Fairport Central School District’s Strategic Initiatives outlines the future work of the District. Part of this work is continuing to prioritize work in the area of diversity, equity and access. Over the past two years, much has been done to work toward achieving the Plan’s mission (in part) to assure access and equity for all students and guide students’ development as compassionate, ethical, contributing members of diverse local and global communities.

Fairport Central School District is committed to:

  • Recruiting, hiring and retaining a diverse staff.
  • Reviewing and assessing educational policies and practices to create systemic change for the benefit of all our students and families.
  • Bolstering long-term plans and expanding efforts to involve community members and listen to the voices of students and their families.
  • Eliciting feedback to learn and create plans related to culturally responsive curriculum.
  • Reviewing student data and being accountable for educating the whole child.
  • Collaborating with neighboring districts to stand together and unite around the ideals of diversity, inclusion and equity for all students.
