School Social Workers work collaboratively with the Counseling Department, Administrators, teachers and other staff to assist students in maximizing their potential and strengths as well as overcoming challenges.
What do School Social Workers do?

Access mental health services and/or health care
Improve school attendance and performance
Assist in development of problem-solving skills
Improve interpersonal relationships
Improve self-esteem and self-control
Assist students with improving overall functioning

Participate effectively in their child’s education
Access school and community resources
Strengthen parenting skills
During times of crisis
Understand and meet their child’s social and emotional needs
Problem solve challenging student educational and/or developmental issues>

Work effectively with parents
Identify students in crisis
Understand familial, cultural, economic and health factors with affect student’s success
