Curriculum & Instruction

Children are born curious about the world and seek out knowledge that helps them to understand it. As educators, we nurture this desire by engaging all students in learning essential concepts and skills that cultivate creative, healthy, caring, and analytical thinkers who participate in and contribute to a diverse society.

Curriculum is the road map to student learning. It articulates district learning outcomes, common assessments, and teacher resources. The curriculum serves as the foundation from which teachers create developmentally appropriate learning experiences that are designed to engage, support and challenge all students.

Fairport curriculum and programs endeavor to affirm and demonstrate research-based tenets of the whole child approach to education ensuring that each child:

  • enters school healthy and learns about and practices a healthy lifestyle.
  • learns in an environment that is physically and emotionally safe for students and adults.
  • is actively engaged in learning and is connected to the school and broader community.
  • has access to personalized learning and is supported by qualified, caring adults.
  • is challenged academically and prepared for success in college or further study and
for employment and participation in a global environment.
