Brotherhood-Sisterhood Week 2024 begins March 18
It’s almost time for one of Fairport’s favorite parts of the school year - Brotherhood-Sisterhood Week! This year, BH-SH will be held the week of March 18-22! Thursday, March 21 will be Outreach Day for all schools, as elementary students K-5 do not have school on Friday, 3/22 for conferences.
During Brotherhood-Sisterhood Week (BH-SH), students in every building and at every grade level will participate in classroom and school-wide activities highlighting the Fairport tradition of C.A.R.E. - Compassion, Awareness, Respect and Embracing Differences. This year’s BH-SH Week will bring in a District-wide perspective on the theme of “C.A.R.E Makes a Difference!”.
The District comes together to celebrate the values of C.A.R.E. with a t-shirt fundraiser courtesy of our amazing partners at Crazy Dog T-shirts. Shirts are $10, and all the proceeds go to the FCSD Joey Fund, which supports Fairport families in crisis. The t-shirts are available for online ordering until February 25. Please note: these t-shirts are the same design as the Fall Crawl 2024 shirts.
In the lead-up to Brotherhood-Sisterhood week, elementary school classrooms will have the opportunity to interact with a “buddy” classroom at Minerva DeLand or Fairport High School. The two classes will answer prompts and questions as a group and send them to their “buddy” class over the weeks before BH-SH. The week culminates in Outreach Day when FHS and Minerva students will visit their buddy classrooms across the District in person for a team problem-solving activity!
This year, we will introduce a NEW Brotherhood-Sisterhood tradition: a combined Outreach Day for the 6th grade classes at Johanna Perrin and Martha Brown Middle Schools. This year’s 6th grade students will be the first class of 9th graders to start their high school careers TOGETHER at Fairport High School in the 2026-2027 school year. We are excited to facilitate events for our 6th grade Raiders to build relationships and get to know each other.
