What’s going on at Northside Library?!

September/October:

We are very excited to welcome back all of our returning Northside Heroes and welcome our 3rd graders to the Northside Library! We  will be reviewing how to best use our Library Catalog, Destiny Discover, to look for books and put books on hold. We will also practice using call numbers to locate books in the library. This can be tricky! 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students will explore our typing program, Typing.com and learn all about why the proper finger placement is so important in improving our typing skills. Typing.com is available to all Northside students to use at home or at school! Have fun typing!

November/December:

3rd graders continued getting more familiar with our library layout with a library map and exploring how the Dewey Decimal System helps organize our non-fiction books. 4th and 5th graders learned about different genres. All classes reviewed our wonderful ebook resource of Sora. Northside students love Sora! Sora is an ebook and audiobook library that we have access to through Monroe #1 BOCES. Students practiced logging into Sora, searched for ebooks or audiobooks they might enjoy, and practiced borrowing one (or more!). More information on how to log into Sora or personalize it can be found under the Class Resources page of the Library website or in your Library Google Classroom!
